Went car shopping with our youngest today Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 27 Nov 2013 17:13:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We only went to one Dealership, the former Saab Dealer, due to his late start. He wanted to see and test drive a Chevy SS, a Camaro with V8, and a Cadillac ATS with V6.
Only one Chevy SS on the lot. Recently sold with a sticker in the mid $40s, which included a $1300 Gas Guzzler Tax! No test drive today.
They did have Camaros, both 2013 and 2014 models, but the Camaro SS models were ~$38K. The Dealership allows test drives of the V8 powered cars only in good weather and with proof of insurance provided by the test driver. We drove my car so he did not have insurance papers with him. No test of a Camaro today.
They had a selection of Caddy ATS models but none with a V6. All cars on the lot had the 2.0 Turbo 4-cylinder used in recent Saabs. He test drove a left-over 2013 ATS with Turbo 4 and AWD. With current incentives the car priced at ~$30K! I don't care for the center stack controls (no tactile feel) or the key less start, but for the money this felt like a great automobile. You could certainly spend more and get less car.
He isn't buying now, just looking for a purchase next Spring. No time to go to the Buick Dealer (sorry Norm) or the Scion & Subaru Dealers to check out their shared new coupe.
