So right now the wife and I have 3 kids. and we have vehicles that fit 3 kids. (wife's saab 9-5 wagon, my xj, and I have a ford escort that I paid $500 for to drive back and forth to work).

But my wife is thinking she wants to start trying for another kid sometime after the new year. which means we'll have to get at least 1 car that fits 6 people. This puts us into 3 rowed vehicles. Minivans, SUVs, and the like. We'll probably buy used, since my wife drives all of 6 miles a day driving the kids to and from school, and she wants a car we can pay cash for, so something under $10k probably. this is an unknown realm for me. I mean I grew up with a minivan, but it was a ford aero star, rear wheel drive with a 5 speed, it could haul when we wanted it to.. and my parents have an 04 tahoe, which I really don't like. I find it to been painfully uncomfortable. that is the extent of my knowledge, I don't even know what else is out there. I've done some searching and I like the mazda 5, but it seems almost too small...

So any suggestions? what do you own. what do you like about it? what drives you nuts about it? would you buy it again or buy something else? anything you wish you had gotten with your vehicle when you bought it? How has it held up to the abuse of kids?
