A good friend bought an Ecoboost '15 Mustang with the flappy paddles and I gotta say, I like it. He paid $32k for it with the performance pack, and some friends got him a Cobb Access Port tuner for his birthday. It's supposed to be 330hp/380tq and that feels about right to my butt. He drives for work, about 20k/yr, and says he is averaging 28mpg - which is what my parents' four cylinder '13 Fusion does. The Mustang makes more power and weighs more! With $30k on the table and a coupe the only option, I'm not sure what else I'd choose.
The Genesis Coupe is a nice car but I think it's very much outclassed by the new Mustang. The previous generation you could go either way - the Mustang had better engines but the Genesis a much nicer interior, but the new Mustang kinda blows it away.
The only other option I'd mention would be the FRS/BRZ, but frankly their magic is going to be lost to some degree with an automatic and they won't make up the difference with economy.
If you can wait for the new Camaro it'd be worthwhile, but I wouldn't expect it to be the best financial competition for the Mustang - at least based on the previous generations of these cars.
