Nology Hotwires Poor Performance

My low boost problem turns out to be not boost related at all. Removing the Nology Hotwires solved the poor performance. These were wires only, no other ignition changes. I have a replacement MSD coil, but instructions said to get a ballast resistor before installing. So I put the wires on with everything else stock. Boost wouldn't go over 10. (Stage II APC, 3" exhaust, 30 lb/hr injectors, 3.0 bar FPR) With stock wires (after checking everything APC) back up to about 14.5 (on the street, haven't pushed it).
Are these wires suspect?
Would they work with the MSD coil (I have the resistor now)?
