Thanks again for all the info here guys - but one last question (or maybe two):
I am considering an ecu upgrade (as mentioned) and may give one from Jak a go...any comments on that? I am also curious as to ecu tuning and as to whether I will need it - my car has about 130K on the engine and while no problems, I want to protect my investment by making sure I protect my engine. I also want to try to get maximum performance as pertains to my driving habits/style. Where in the rev range do stock 9000's perform the best? I am looking for the compromise of great mid-level and decent low and high-level revs performance. Will still be almost all stock parts. Do I need a tune?
Also, with regards to exhaust, although I will probably still go with a complete JT system, I am wondering what would be the effect of just a 3" downpipe and a replacement stock exhaust (or another 2.5"). My current exhaust has it's holes near the back of the vehicle. It could save me a few pennies, but I need feedback by those more knowledgeable than myself. I may get a system from Jak (3") if he can put one together for me, although I would like feedback on those too, if anyone has them.
btw, I have a habit of knocking out 2nd gear on hard-shifts (to 3rd), which is a problem I always have had on most of my cars (not a tranny problem). Might this be solved somewhat by a short-shifter and/or modified engine mounts to reduce movement in the shifter?
cheers,
derek
