I just got back from a 180 mile trip, the first chance for extended high speed since I installed most of the mods, and was very happy with my 1988 900 Turbo convertible. Acceleration was exhilarating well into high speeds and handling was quite responsive. I had fleeting thoughts of what a modded SPG could do, with less weight than the convertible. Group 9 3" exhaust, 30 lb/hr injectors, 3.0 bar FPR, Jak Stoll ECU chip and intercooler, Swedish Dynamics K&N cold air intake, (how's that for spreading the money around the suppliers?) 9000 aero wheels & added SPG trim. Boost to mid 20s with Zeitronix A/F and boost meter. If you believe the G-meter (Beltronics Vector) hp is around 250.
I broke the tranny last month but I contributed with 'drivers error' by jamming the shifter too fast.
I'm happy with modern performance from a classic Saab. I know the WRX is faster, but you can't put the top down, either.
