Seriously, I think most cars that upgraded don't get upgraded until after the warranty expires, so that's 50,000 miles for most people. If you look att eh Abbott site, the project 9-5 they did, they started at 80,ooo miles, and even comented thatt hat was a perfect point to start upgrades. I agree, because I would say a 9-5 is 'good' for about 250,000 miles, before expensive things start to be needed, and it may seem uneconomic to repair the car. But, 80 is just nicely broken in, and this is a time when some wear and tear items start to be needed, like exhuast, so it is a good time to replace the maintenance items with upgrades. That is what I ahve done with my 9000, and it has made the upgrading process very cost effective - litte or no extra labor used, and in many cases, performance parts are less expensive than stock replacement parts. Have the car checked out well first to ensure that there are no underlying maintenance issues that need to be brought up to date, and then work forward with the performance stuff. Your car should have a long way to go!
