There are many odd variants from the late '80s - early '90s which may have been "real" models or, as you say, "bitsas" from the accessories catalogue. A few examples - my old 1993 9kt CSE came from new with sports suspension (Aero spec), sports exhaust, suede inserts and so forth - it was an automatic, and some claim that this was called a Turbo S here in Europe. Mine was actually registered as an Aero, by Saab Contract Hire themselves! A 9000S was a different, and lesser, animal in the UK from the Turbo S sold in the States - we got 130 bhp from 2 litres, albeit with auto transmission, leather, sunroof, 15" teardrop alloys and a reflective rear trim. And earlier on we got Carlssons while others got Talledegas and so on.
The thread below might be of interest - one of the contributors claimed to have a brochure, so something called a 9000 SPG existed, even if nobody can agree what it was! As long as somebody loves it, that's OK with me, for what it's worth.
