absolute. I am not trying to start a NA verses turbo intake manifold debate. I chose a direct and wanted to share the results. Given the particular combination on your car, as they say, "results may differ".
The change of just the intake manifold is not isolated on the dyno run noted above and was combined with several other changes. I am not advocating that everyone go out and change to a NA intake. With Rich's car, we had a certain performance goal in mind and wanted to increase power off the line - this means torque. We looked a several different ways and used this along with some other changes for impressive results. I would love to have made another run with the turbo intake to specifically isolate the performance changes, but I didn't. Once you have the pieces, the change out is not that complicated. At the same time, you could consider installing a cooling bypass for the throttle body. Rich's car produces some really good torque numbers considering there are really few modifications made to the car. If you contrast that to my latest car, the HP has increased significantly, but the torque number have not increased significantly from Rich's car.
Just goes to show what you can do with a few changes to the stock 2.3R Aero engine and the type of sleeper performance you can get. If I am an advocate for anything, it is for the performance potential that all Saabs have and the surprise it brings to those that may not have considered or even heard of the car before. For example, when I was at the dyno the other day, a group of guys were gathered around watching the dyno runs for my car. One guys asked what type of car it was and I told him it was a Saab. He then asked if that is a German car. Hmmmmm....... Looks like we still have more work to do, but I know of one guy that at least now knows that Saabs do NOT come from Germany. :-)
