Water Injection and T7

Abbott racing sells the Aquamist systems, but cautions against using it on a T-7 equipped car. I called them on it, once, and it caused a tuned 9-3 to go back to "basic boost," which is only around 5 psi (basically, the first part of your stock "boost gauge" (which it isn't really--another story)). Shutting down the water injection system immediately returned operation to normal.
Trionic-7 uses the spark plug gap to measure ionization in the combustion chamber. T-7 uses this to look for detonation, or so I've heard. The water injection system may have altered the resistance across the plug gap, leading the T-7 system to think that detonation was taking place. This will have two effects: (1) retarded timing (2) reduced boost
What other factors did Abbott run into on this test? Was the car already running a very-rich mixture on a modified ECU? Were they pushing too much water into the intake?
I would love to hear about anybody who is running water injection on their T-7 equipped car!
