Jak, it is an R code engine, so I am assuming that it is the Mitsubishi rather than the Garret. I thought all the Aero 5 speeds came with the bigger Mitsu, but it is from Canada so I guess all bets are off. As far as the boost leaks, I had my mechanic check all the hoses while he was replacing my cooling fan the other day and he didn't find any leaks but he only did basic visual inspection. Do you have any recommended methods of finding leaks? I will do Deans' suggestion for testing the wastegate in the next couple of days then I will give you a call (I don't want to take up your time until I have as much info as possible).
I don't think I ever had this car boosting well into the red. Now that I have the 3" exhaust it spools up quicker so it is more noticable when it hits that wall and the turbo backs off. I guess I really miss the power I used to get out of my old '91 9000 5 speed with a 3" exhaust. As a whole the Aero is a much more enjoyable car, but man that '91 was fast.
