I would try a set of winter tires first, before selling the 9-5 that you still enjoy driving. Have been putting snows (already mounted on dedicated rims) on all four corners of my cars since the mid 1980's, & they make a tremendous difference. I'm also a fan of Nokian winter tires . . . presently have Hakka 2 for my 9000, WR for my Volvo V70R wagon, & RSI for my wife's Subaru.

I have a steep driveway, with a bend in the middle of it, & opted for AWD when I bought my last car after seeing how easily my wife's Subie walked up that driveway with several inches of snow (even when she only had all-season tires). My 9000 can still usually make it up the driveway, but in reverse if the snow is getting deep (to put more weight on the driving wheels).
