Hiya,
Anyone have any feedback on BSR's new PPC2 reprogrammer for the aero V6 they've put into the '06?
I just got my '20 Years' Convertible (generally great, but with some dissapointments, probably not of interest for the performance group.. let me know) Anyway, it's a beaut :)
The engine is pretty good, but I can't help being curious about the effects of the BSR upgrade, and the quality of the programming. Call me an overaged kid ;)
This BSR PPC, is the one btw that doesn't require an ecu replacement - it plugs into the tech2 port and swaps software with the existing ecu (if I've got it right) , making it by far the most convenient, and least risky in terms of warentee problems, I would guess.
So, my questions (these first ones are general tuner questions re this car, not BSR specific):
- The convertible chassis is very good now, but can it handle the extra torque? (over an extended period of time, would it start to "loosten" or get creaky as it is torqued harder?)
- I ended up with the 6 speed auto transmission (stop that snickering, now! :P) - I hear they're still using the Aisen's; Basically same question as above.
-How about the engine? I hear these Aussi's are very well built, and all-aluminum. Am I risking breaking or wearing out parts before their time?
-Does the ~ 25% increase in torque create considerable torque steer issues? (nothing could have been as bad as my '00 viggen - even after the abbot fix :) Currently there is NONE on a straight line.
Next - questions specific to the BSR unit:
What are your comments?
Quality?
Effect on real world performance
Effect on gas milage
It suggests you have to use 95-98 octane to get the correct results. Best I can get here in Toronto is Sunoco Ultra 94 (94 octane, 10% ethenol) - thoughts?
Risk of botching it? :)
Is it necessary to swap the original software back into the ECU before taking the car in for warentee service to avoid having the dealer blame everything on the upgrade?
Thanks as always for your feedback!
Be delighted to discuss the '06 aero (20 years) vert any time you'd like.
