I'm sure the loss of 700lbs of weight (900 from the car, plus 200 in the cage) was a major contributor, but like oldsaab said we were constantly from gas to brake, over and over. Between turns and dodging other cars there was a lot of braking going on - certainly substantially more than you'd EVER see on the street.
The first time out, pushing through the straight at ~70mph I jabbed the brakes to avoid spearing some other car into Turn 1 and I was SHOCKED at how much brake I had. The car just stopped. After that, for the first few laps I was taking it easy going into turns trying avoid baking the brakes, but after a while it became apparent I couldn't. No matter how hard or how often I used them, they were always there. I was pretty impressed. There wasn't as much as my 2-door had with 4-piston Wilwoods or my XR4Ti has with 2-piston ATEs, but it's a major improvement over stock...
These brakes handle a 225hp 3400lb 9000 Aero well - they are a good improvement on a 160hp 2900lb c900. Definitely on the to-do list for the '92 900Tc as well. Which reminds me, I think this time I may make a template for hacking up the brake backing plate... :)
