it measure lateral acceleration, from this you can figure out velocity and distance when measured over a specific time. So it plots the acceleration vs time, the dirivitive of that is velocity vs time, the derivitive of that is distance vs time. then it figures out at what point you cross the 1/4 mile mark, gives you the time that it took, and takes the value off the velocity graph and gives you the speed you were going.
As long as you calibrate the meter right, and enter the correst values for the car, then it should be pretty accurate.
on my 9000 i got a reading of 242 hp off of a g-meter, then dynoed it and it was 246 hp. So unless it was a very good mistake, or it was doing something right.
