I'm actually quite surprised you got the T5 valve working on standalone EMS - it's a very unusual design.
The 3rd wire is not a feedback wire. Unlike most 2-wire solenoids where "energize" puts the valve in one position and "de-energize" puts it in the other, the T5 BPC valve actually has two coils. One pulls it toward one position and the other pulls it toward the other. I think the valve's position is essentially undefined (or maybe it moves to the middle?) when neither coil is on.
There are some other subtleties about the T5 too like it doesn't apply 12V to the coil continuously - it applies 12V for a few mS to move the valve to the correct position, then it goes to a lower voltage to hold it there (much like low-impedance fuel injectors). Not sure if a similar technique is used with the T7 valve.
