Hi John, Total Seal rings are OK material wise but the worst thing you can do is to run a gap-less second ring! The reality is that you want more second ring end gap than what the top ring is set at, otherwise pressure gets trapped between the top and second rings which upsets ring sealing. Lots of after market pistons come with a relief between the compression rings so the pressure has a place to diminish to prevent this syndrome. OEM Saab rings are ductile high strength which is the type of ring you want for a turbo application. We use Hastings which has ductile top rings in their performance sets but there are several brands that make rings suitable for serious turbo applications. As far as lightening flywheels a '94 up 9000T lends itself best as heavy as they are for their smaller overall diameter. In other words Saab went thicker when they went to a smaller ring gear diameter in '94 so they're the most ideal Saab flywheel to lighten. The trade off Jon mentioned seems to like from 12 to 15 lbs (yours is around 21 lbs) from the feed back I've received from all of the customers I've lightened Saab flywheels for over the years. Take care, Dave
