Hi, The Saab Trionic ECU system remains one of the most sophisticated (yet underrated I feel) engine management systems o the planet. It's key objective is to deliver optimal safe power delivery within the confines of the engineering and fuel quality. Impoirtantly, it is key to engine protection against knock or detonation. The Trionic system, using various sensors, is able to compensate for fuel quality, air density/mass, driving style, etc whilst delivering max power within conservative parameters. SAAB are known for conservative engineering. Their turbocharged engines have always been capable of much more e.g. the 2.3litre 9000 engines have heads, blocks, pistons and conrods etc that are capable well over 400hp. MBC (IMHO) are never required IF you work in with the knowledgeable good tuners. Such tuners are able to reprogram/remap the Trionic ECU such that you can gain appreciable power improvements whilst maintaining the integrity of the turbo boost and anti-knock control mechanisms. Tuners such as Jak Stoll and especially the Swedish tuners such as MapTun, Nordic, BSR/Speedparts are very good at what they can do with the Trionic ECU. Remember your Saab is not a rice burner and does not need the cap backwards bridage boost contorllers and add ons. Such things are already inbuilt into the Trionic system. Cheers ;-)
