in that i too am just finishing up the 2.1head/intake upgrade on an engine in need of an HG job.
One thing you didnt change that i believe you should have, is using the 3.0 bar fuel presssure regulator and in turn the 2.1L fuel rail.
this would seem to compute as your car is losing it at higher rpm, so i suspect you are getting some lean-out due to the 2.5 bar fpr.
On the cams, its accepted that there should be 15 chain pins between the two timing marks on the sprockets when #1 is at TDC and flywheel at 0.
me no expert neither - restarting the first engine i rebuilt, i had forgotten to put the oil galley plug in the 'rear' of the block, right behind the flywheel, and oil sprayed out to the drivers side (due to flywheel spin direction). my poor assistant happened to be standing right there.
