I have had one built 99 notchback with standalone engine management and lots of tuning that was awesome to drive.
My latest project is a '88 900t with a stock engine in good nick at 150k. I have added downpipe and ext. wastegate (from 99), T3/T4 turbo, and 25x12x3 ebay intercooler with custom piping and Turbo xs bov. Although I miss the electronic control over ignition that I had with the standalone ecu the boost performance is outstanding. I need to upgrade my clutch as I can spin the clutch if I don't feather in the throttle. Opening up the intake with a nice flowing intercooler and the exhaust will give you the best investment on your money after the upgrades you have listed. Don't underestimate gain from an ext. wastegate. It will help you realize the full potential of a better downpipe.
