Long shot, but your inflation pressure in the front tires isn't too high, is it? You could probably drop it a little for short term or for auto-x and things like that, but be reasonable.
Otherwise, unless you're not in the northern hemisphere, the cold winter weather will hurt traction as well.
As Bill said torque in lower gears is usually limited, but at 8psi you shouldn't be having traction problems, are you sure it's only boosting to 8psi? How are you checking it?
Lastly, the P6's (with a 400 treadwear rating) are definitely not performance tires, but you also don't need race tires to hold back as much as you should be making. We have BFG G-Force Sports on a Maptun stage 3+ 9000 Aero and they don't break free in 1st or 2nd, unless it's really cold or there is junk on the road.
An all-season tire will rarely have the grip of a summer only tire, especially in the winter.
