I think you are limiting yourself when you go to 18" wheels on a 9-3, even Viggen. I have been using three sets of 17" wheels with my Viggen one winter, one R compound and one set with performance summer tires that also see track use. All of these fit over the AP Racing 330mm big brake kit and are 17X8" with approx 35mm offset.
With 18's you are pretty well limited to 225/40/18 unless you want the rediculus rubberband look of the 215/40 you see on the asian imports.
the other factor is weight and strength.
My 17X8 OZ ultraleggara are 17 lbs each and with the track rubber are 35 lbs each with 235/40/17 tires. most 18" combo's are near 50 lbs ea.
