You are correct that the Stage 1 would raise the horsepower and torque. Probably not quite to Viggen levels but pretty enough. As long as you do not use the extra power, then the vehicle would behave just like it does now. Of course, where is the fun in having more power and not using it?
Using Stage 1 software will highlight any weakness in the 9-3, and will spur you to want to improve the suspension, etc. How much improvement you will want or need to make will depend on how much you use the extra power.
Personally, I believe that every NG900/OG9-3 needs the 22mm rear sway bar and the steering rack brace. Those two items alone really change the character of the vehicle from being merely adequate to being truly a joy to drive.

* Infinity Kappa speakers – Model 32.1cf 3.5” 2-way speakers in the dash, Model 693.1i 6”x9” 3-way speakers in the rear parcel shelf, and Model 65.1mb 6.5” mid-bass speakers in the front doors.
* Dynamat ‘Super’ & Dynamat ‘Premium’ sound deadening material in doors and rear cargo area.
