Sounds painfully familiar! I did all of the MAF/DIC/plug maintenance, and stuck with a stock air filter, but still fried the stock pistons.
Have to admit, I've been playing with tuned 9-3s for the last 5 years and never heard the one about a wideband O2 sensor - what does that do different than the stock (new in my car too!) O2 unit?
What is the Forge wastegate you mention? I have used Forge bypass valves - which look pretty but do nothing by my experience. Guess they'll put up with more abuse than the stock Bosch units - which I remember as being almost identaical to Porsche/Audi/VW turbo units. I thought the wastegate was internal to the turbo, and was opened/shut by the BPC control unit sending vacuum to the actuator valve (connected to the turbo wastegate by an exposed, adjustable rod...?
