Should I use header wrap on my down pipe? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 23 Jul 2010 15:27:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 9-5 with the GS 3-inch downpipe. This summer had been very hot in Michigan (77 degrees at 5:00am this morning, 95 degrees at 5:00 pm) and I have been having difficulty with high temperature readings when idling in traffic.
I installed the down-pipe in the Spring of 2009, didn't notice any major issues during the much cooler summer last year. I have already replaced my thermostat, temperature sensor, radiator hose, and refreshed the coolant within the past week to no avail.
Now I wonder if the heat source is external to the engine rather than internal. Has anyone else wrapped their down-pipe with insulating header wrap? How has it worked out for you?
