Daman,

I am guessing you live in the U.S.

If that's the case there are I believe 3 places you should call and speak with in person (not through e-mail, to avoid what you've been experiencing so far.)

Nick Taliaferro at Genuine SAAB in MO has some experience with the gearset and the needed modifications to get it into a 9000 case. They do needed modifications and assembly in-house.

Don (I believe that's his name) at ScanWest Autosport in Seattle is very knowledgeable, they are (or at least were) a Quaife dealer, and have some things they do to gearboxes for racing, they rebuild in-house as well.

The third is John Williams of JZW Tuning outside Denver - last I heard he had a few of the gearsets coming in to build some transmissions for his own projects and for customers.

Keep in mind these three people will probably give you different opinions about things you can / should do, keep an open mind and make your own conclusion.

For mechanically inclined people like myself the consensus is that it usually ends up being cheaper (though a headache) to swap in good used stock transmissions 3-4 times rather than shelling out the money for the Quaife or cryo-treated strengthened transnmissions, since there is not really evidence that the custom internals are more than 3-4 times as strong.

Everyone has their own opinion though, and it may be a much bigger deal for you to change out the transmission than it is for me.

Drew
