I should have two of the the 9k versions in my hands soon and will be installing one right away in a high hp 9k aero. The biggest part is that you have to manufactor a mount for the tranny side as the end cap comes as it would for a 93 and you will need to make and or build a mount to attatch to the subframe. I have seen some pictures and some guys took an upper torque arm for the 9k and made that work.
The gears are larger in size and the shafts are held together by the end cap to help keep shaft flex down, the design is better, some of the bears have swapped from needle to roller and some other mods. It should be a good bit stronger, but has only been tested in two cars with 540bhp for about a year. Time will tell how strong they really are, but they should be a good bit stronger than the stock and with the closer ratios, less load should really help things out too. I would not do it without a lsd and we have noticed that the lsd helps a lot to keep the pinion in the 9k from failing. Another option is adding an oil cooler to the system, this is supposed to really help, have not tested it myself, but have heard good things about it.
