You can certainly have a monster that is both gearbox friendly and fun as a daily driver.
It requires keeping torque reasonable. Lets say 350Ftlbs at the wheel. ( Same setup will easily make 400) But if we change enough of the correct parts we can keep that torque high in the rev range allowing for plenty of Hp in this case ~390 at the wheels. So we can do lots of work. The flat torque and careful mapping makes the power delivery seemingly endless. Keeping the torque low makes the gearbox happy and allows using a nicer clutch. bosot was only 16psi ramping to 20 so there is not much thermal load. Allowing plenty of margin in the summer desert heat.
Now my car is in the 450ftlbs and 511whp range ;) This one still felt very fast. But refined. No bg /Wham/ as the power comes on.
All through a 2.5" catback. But with Tube manifold, 3" downpipe and cat. Stock airbox too! The car was very quiet, for a 400+ HP Stock looking Viggen Vert. ;)
There is a video of it on my youtube GenuineSaab
