Just had all four pistons repalced and valve job,etc....car is immaculate as far as maint. and looks...After replacing pistons, I bought factory amm, installed, ... Still have pinging under hard boost... This is auto tranny and pretty fast compared to other 95's I have driven. I am not bragging but I out gunned a New pontiac gto 8 cylinder by a half car ..stock evos, subies etc... even held at 130 mph with a newer porsche 911 turbo. Some times it doesnt ping at all, then a month later, ping, I noticed when it pings that the automatic tranny "kickdown" doesnt happen and its like Im in 4th or 5th gear and trying to unsucessfuly gain speed like I should be able to without pinging. Then a month later its back to normal no ping and correct kickdown of tranny..... No vacumm leaks, no turbo inlet leaks, ... correct plugs The 45$ for 4 kind recommended by owners manual. If I had to guess, .. Amm fail again, or DI issues, .. Amm has a year on it... Di was swapped with new replace 7 years ago...per recall problem. What can I do from cracking a piston AGAIN!!! Car has 197K miles, I am sooo frustrated.... Its like FCUK! Its 2011 and theres no test for a fricken amm , and on top of that it must be a VERY shitty manufacturing job with all the fails people have.... Any suggestions to start tracking the issue? Thanx guys... P.s No codes.. and always 91 octane.. This car has had soo many things replaced, it really is in almost mint.... If your bored go to you tube type in mint 2002 95 aero and you can see I take care of it.. Bye the way Has BSR ecu tune and when I first got it, it NEVER pinged,so I dont thinks thats the prob. Light oil ONLY on K& N.... Thanx again..
