First of all, bsr is known to run a buttload of timing, this can cause pinging and or detonation. Everything has to be in good shape and just because a part is new or fairly new, does not mean that it is working fine. I have seen it quite a few times were a new fuel pump or di or amm is put on the car and it drives the techs crazy trying to figure it out and it does sometimes occur where the new part or fairly new part is bad.
You have to eliminate things one at a time, swap out to a "known good" di and amm. Check fuel pressure, not just at idle, but under load, have seen fuel pumps that worked fine at idle, but under pressure, they would fall off in fuel pressure, so this must be checked under idle and under load. The fuel quality must be good, many bad gas stories, must be sure the quality is good, have seen the knock count double or triple when letting hte fuel level get below a 1/4 tank, more condensation can build up in a empty tank, just the reason airplanes top off fuel cells every time they land. I have filled up fuel tanks and watched knock count go from 10 per cylinder per pull to 3 or so.
Spark plugs are the number one thing I replace right away with any misfiring and knocking. I like to run the ngk bcpr7es-11 plugs, they seem to work best in our cars for spirited and tuned condition, the colder 7 heat range helps to keep detonation at bay.
Vacuum leaks can cause the car to run lean and cause issues, so I like to replace all vacuum lines with good silicicone just to be safe.
good luck,
John
