To get the new clamp installed after replacing (or trying) the water pump on my 2000, I pulled the cobra close to the radiator to give me more space on the engine side for fingers and hands.
After tightening the screw 90% or so I rotated the Cobra into its correct position then tightened it fully.
The split pin jutting from the cobra flange face is to be sandwiched between the two tabs of the Cobra clamp ring.
