Very few times will the actual tune be the problem But when you ask for more power from a motor you stress many components out more,, Everything from motor mounts, to spark plugs and DI's if any part related to the drivetrain is even remotely questionable than a tune will probably break it. Not the tunes fault, They exist to make more power, and add stress, heat, and combustion force to the car. If you have a car that is broken, or near it. It will show very quickly.
If you have a local tuner who you can see in person and inspect the car prior to performaning the software work it is a huge advantage.
