Anders-some bad ignition coils, replace all? Posted by Gator Ray [Email] (#1044) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gator Ray) on Wed, 31 Jul 2013 20:47:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My '08 9-3 2.8t Aero, with a stage 1 Maptun tune, has been diagnosed to have 2 bad coils (#2 and #5 cylinders). The bad coil "issue" is only evident under hard throttle; then it stutters badly.
The car is scheduled for the coil replacement at my Indy, where he will change out the entire rear bank of coils. He will move one good coil from the back side to the front to replace the bad coil there. In addition he'll do a full set of new spark plugs.
Here's is the question: I'm not against replacing ALL the coils, if it is advisable for best performance, but for $95 each (e-Europarts) it needs to be really necessary. Do all, or as I have planned?
Use Genuine SAAB/GM ignition coils, or OEM "replacement" (AC/Delco, etc?)
Best spark plugs to use?
Thanks in advance!
