low boost, '96 900 Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Sat, 31 Jan 2015 19:38:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The '96 900 SET has Nordic Stg. 3, Viggen I/C, 3" downpipe, and BSR exhaust.
Have had this set-up for seven happy years. About two years ago, I noticed that the boost during spool-up got slower/lazier. Due to work and other stuff, did not have the time as well as inclination to look into it since car runs good although somewhat slower.
About a week ago, I replaced the BPC valve since the car feels like it has no hardware and software mods. The car spool-up got somewhat faster while the boost gauge needle goes half way into the red. So, I think that the BPC valve of seven years is toasted.
However, the performance is still off. The turbo used to spool real quick while the boost gauge needle goes 3/4 into the red consistently. I have done some adaptation runs with the new BPC valve but no progress.
The T25 has 200k miles. I checked the exhaust side of the turbo for wheel play - nothing. However, I didn't check the intake side.
What else do I need to check, or do I just need the T25 rebuilt?
By the way, would a turbo from a B204R work for a '96 900 SET?
