I also have an 04 Aero ... it's been performance tuned by John Williams and I am very happy with the results ... he did a custom tune for me after we talked about it and had some of the hardware pre-installed.
It's best to have a goal in mind when considering a sport tune ... in other words what kind of experience are you seeking? For me, I didn't want a torque burst in first and second gear, but a gradual mid-level boost for quick highway passing. I just came back from a 2,000 mile trip yesterday to and from Eastern CA, and had a lot of fun on mountain passes!
Best to really do your homework before spending hard earned money. In my case I drove to JZW to have him flash my ECU on site. The first couple of re maps didn't work well so it took some tweaking to get the engine running smoothly :)
I highly recommend dealing with a proven tuner as well as taking care of any mechanical issues beforehand. Fuel pump, MAF, DIC, vacuum lines, these all need to be checked as a tune will expose any weaknesses in your engine pretty fast. Case in point, I blew off a vacuum line passing three semi's in a row a couple of days ago ... scared the living s**t outta me as I was a long way from any Saab mech. It was an easy problem to fixlnce I lifter the hood and reconnected the hose (I also zip tied it to make sure) but this was a perfect example of how changing a stock engine can lead to unexpected issues. YMMV and good luck with your tune!
