This is a (more) moderated board. Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Wed, 1 Aug 2001 12:21:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've been watching this board lately with a bit of frustration. It was intended to be a board for the intelligent discussion of performance modifications and definitely not intended as a place to brag about what kind of car you beat and whether or not the other driver knew you were racing. I'm going to be moderating this board more closely to keep it on topic. I've also revoked posting privileges to to subnets due to abusive language and petty personal attacks which are simply not allowed on this website. I copied SteveC in BC's message from the offending thread below, because I think he has a good point.
fyi,

there is a hell of a lot of nattering and getting ones testicles err egos tied in a knot. I think the Performance BB should be modifications only. Not stereos, not cosmetics. An example of the latter is clear turn signals that came up on the 9K/9^5 board,,,perfect place for such a query, why do we (on the Performance BB) need to hear it?
I still think queries about Viggens and Aeros (or SPGs) that aren't performance related should be directed to the other boards. For example, low boost in a Viggen is low boost in a 9^3, sorry folks. If it is a leaking BPV, sorry again,,,how is this "performance" related? Because it is a Viggen? Ah, no. A BPV is a BPV folks, unless we're talking rewelding a boss for a blow-off (to atmosphere) valve. Now that IS a modification. My headliner in my SPG.....but I digress.
I kind of miss roaming the old C900 board, even as a 9000 owner. There really seemed to be a higher concentration of interesting technical modifications detailed in full with great responses (just look at the archives!). Now there is 'buddy' claiming victory in the race of the week, followed by another, followed by yet another. There seems to be a lot of 'one-up manship' now days at the expense of the truly interesting posts (of old). I find myself wandering these boards a lot less these days. There's only so much one can take of "I'll beat your ass/Oh yeh, I can roast your ass!" In closing, IF I had $55K, I could buy a new Aero or Viggen (whatever) and modify it to beat most anything, without a turn of the wrench. Not that there is anything wrong with that (there isn't). But, try putting $4K CAD into a $6K CAD 9000 and do the same thing. Without the brains of KevinK, chrisx, nick (whatever happened to him?), SPG9 Dave, SPG9 mike, etc etc, I couldn't have done that! This is what TSN use to be about,,,,,well more than in part (as it is now).
my 2 cents
