Thanks for taking one for the team, wish you all the best. I followed all your travails, and I've also posted my engine blow up stuff too, so I know how it feels.

Someone correct me on this if required, but I believe the Saab engine geneology went as such:

1. B-motors on 99s - the original half V8 from the cross breeding with the Brits

2. H-motor (B201) - 8v in 900s

3. 16v (B202) - development of the H motor - blocks should be identical, except for any turbo oil line issues, possibly knock sensor hole issue? One could ostensibly swap the head and end and timing covers from a 16v onto an H turbo bottom end and have pretty low compression - though I believe using the 16v head brings compression up a half point (my friend/mechanic built his mid engined RWD ice racer 900 in this manner, all with stock parts).

4. 2.1L (B212) - as per 3 but bored out to 93mm with resulting cooling issues

5. 2.3L (B234) - as per 3 but stroked out, keeping 90mm bore - what we'd all love to have in our c900s but haven't the balls (or money) to do.

And after that I dunno. Makes me old school?

See the link for Larry's more authoritative info, from which the above was derived.
