Motor was to go .040 over. Ok, no problem. Engine had to come out because a spring sheered in half. Got to looking at cylinders and noticed what appeared to be excessive gap between piston/cly.
3 of the 4 top compression broken. PAECO sized them wrong. Big surprise there. Also, and more importantly, they NEVER honed the cylinders after boring. So now I have very smooth bore at .040. I had the block and pistons spec'd and took the blook and pistons to PAECO so they could look at the mess. My mech spec'd the block at 3.583". PAECO spec'd the block at 3.579 and 3.578. Arias sent me the work order sheet which indicates that when PAECO ordered the pistons they identified a bore of, guess what, 3.583", exactly what my mechanic spec'd. PAECO was trying to cover up his F'up by spec'ing the block smaller than what it really is, and what they represented to Arias when they ordere the pistons. Dirt bag. To hone the block, that will take another .001" or so. Arias calls for max clearance a .006", and I think I might be at the edge or over. That's the short version. Let me verify whether I can safely use this N/A block my mech has offered for free. If it won't work, I'll let you know. Thanks.
Pass the word all, use PAECO and you run major risks of a big time f'd up job.....this is the toned down version of what I'd really like to say.
