You got that right, 2.3L or 2.1L head, with a 2.1L intake manifold. Just be sure that if you get a 2.3L head, it's from a '91-'93 9000. Dr. Boost gave the reasons already. 2.3L and 2.1L heads are pretty much the same.
Custom cams are also a possibility, but you may want to upgrade the valve springs at the same time. I tell you this now, because I don't think there's a way to change valve springs with the head still on the car. I may be wrong about this, so anyone who knows, pipe up!
I can't say much about the 1985 Turbo cams other than that Swedes have told me that this is the stock combo to go. I have no numbers to back that up.
