...the decision to take a car racing isn't necessarily a practical one, i.e., Taylor, et al (me, too :-). Rollin is right: SAABs *are* heavy and they aren't the fastest cars out there, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't race them, nor does that mean they can't be made to go fast (hey Damien - when's the Trionic conversion gonna be done?). And autocrossing is more about the driver than the car he (and she - lots of very good female drivers out there) is in.
Lots of people race lots of different cars that ordinarily would be ill-suited to it (btw, just read that crappy Chrysler sedans are popular rally cars: cheap, turbo'd - we like turbos, don't we? - no big deal if you bang 'em up, etc.). And have you ever seen a hopped up Volvo? There are some very cool, boxy old Volvos out there that are *very* fast - racing performance wrung from a car with less of a performance pedigree than most. And, in case you didn't know, folks have been racing SAABs for probably as long as SAAB has been making SAABs :-)
