How do you compare ride height of different linear springs? I'm guessing it is based on total number of non-active coils and their thickness but not sure.
One of the things I'm not sure of is what determines a non-active coil. In books it is described as a coil touching another coil. When looking at linear automotive springs, I would think any coil that has a distance from another coil smaller than the spring's average distance would be a non-active coil. My reasoning would be b/c aftermounting the spring and setting the weight of the car on the spring, those coils w/ a shorter distances would have binded. Saab estimates their springs w/ a total of 1.5 non-active coils per spring but I can't see that possible. If I'm correct at estimating ride height, the ride height would alone show for that.
