All good tips. I'll play with left foot braking (kind of used to it because I use it a lot 4 wheeling).
Smooth I'm getting better at, but still having problems getting power to the ground. Had the same sort of problem at the Flight Academy. Assuming it hasn't changed, there was a long sweeper at the back of the coarse. No matter what, the inside tire would slip. (the traction controlled cars really lost power on this turn). Hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about.
They offer a novice training class twice a season. Didn't make the lottery on the first one, and the second one is right about when my wife's due date is (don't think she'll appreciate me missing the birth)...
It's the race prepped Neons that are destroying me this year. All of them are running r-compound tires and sponsered. I'm typically running just behind with a A4 on race tires, but I did beat him yesterday ;-). Most everyone above me has race tires. I'm the only lonely Saab competing. There is also a pro "X-class G-Stock" V6 Camarro that proves it's 90% driver since he blows away the neons, but runs in the X-class.
The tire pressures are about right, however I manage to rub about half way up the sidewall front & back. I'm convinced the Dunlops have a weak sidewall. After each run, the tires also seem to gain about 4-5 psi that I will bleed back off. I run with the seats folded, spare out, and a half to full tank of gas. With this setup, I can achieve a great balance of over&understeer when I want it. I'm possibly looking at the 245's for my next set, however, I made a decision earlier this season that technique is what I'll work on first before upgrading any components.
Thanks,
Chris Fisher
