It's tough watching these guys do horrid things like that. An M class BMW should never be treated like that. My boss drives a 2000/1 M5 and he lets me drive it every once in a while (drove it just yesterday, actually) and it's not something that should mistreated. I love my saab and all, but that M5 is the fastest, smoothest, most delicious car I've driven in a long time. A friend of his has a Boxster S which is also a blast to drive (and has MUCH nicer seats!!), but it just doesn't quite compare to M power.
I wish I could say that your example of the 17 y/o with a brand new M3 was uncommon, but around UVa, it's the norm. My only consolation is that most of the kids don't have enough class to pick that nice a car. Most of them go with garrish SUVs and the like.
Oh well. I'll earn me a m-class bmw or a porsche some day. It'll be worth every last bead of sweat. (not to say that I don't love my saab and all... I just want one of each of the nice european marques.)
