I was approached by a totally tricked out Datsun 2 door (210??). I was in the right lane turning left (outside) and he was on the inside left turn lane...well I rocked his world in 2nd gear. he came up to me further down the road,,we were going about 80km'h,,,,bad news for him, my '88 9KT loves that speed for 3rd gear. Got thrown back in my seat as I hit 25psi, and within a blink I took several car lengths, then into 4th and several more car lengths. HOWEVER, HERE IS THE SICK PART! as I was shifting that little Datsun thing was screaming and gained back quite some space! MOreover, I was sitting at highway red light (further down the road) and he was behind me. As usual I half throttled 1st gear, but this time a bit more urgent (he was right on my ass), shifted into 2nd and only gained a car length (but the rubber was burning big time), 3rd gear full boost, maybe a couple more car lengths. It wasnnt until after 160kph that the Saab completely pulled away.
That is one blazing Datsun,,,and the little decals on his window indicate no poser,,,,his car is fast (because mine is DAMN fast). He must lay down the law on the 1/4 mile in that thing, and definately has some big HP, not to mention almost 1000lb advantage over me.
I almost had to swallow my Saab pride there!
This isn't first time I had a run in with those old Japanese cars, I was BURNED last year by an old (but modified) 240 turbo. That thing had over 300hp though;-)
He must have quite a bit of fun burning muscle cars on warm nights.
