we could never keep it pointed straight. 350 truck engine with an old Vette grind cam, not much lift but a looooooot of duration, very lumpy. TH400, Moroso sold a motor mount kit for the conversion. We left the stock differential because we were kids and broke and wanted to drive it. Thinking it would twist up into a knot the first time we goosed it, we were surprised it held up, got posi every time. Started to clunk pretty bad when backing and turning though. Looking back I think the fact that we spent most of our time making tire smoke and not much time actually transferring the power, made it gentler on the rear end. Stock gearing was 4.11, which meant that if you were doing about 30 and romped on it, you saw lots of blue smoke behind you and you were going sideways if you didn't start feathering the gas.
we managed to spin a bearing before we killed ourselves. important lesson in 'usable power', and also how to steer with the gas pedal...it ain't no good if you can't get it to the ground....but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun :)
