I mentioned this about two months ago... do a search for my posts.
This is the biggest problem I've run into. On the older Saabs (-'87) this isn't a problem since they use M12 studs. But later Saabs use M14 bolts, and most wheels aren't drilled to accept this. Moreover, most modern rims simply don't have the space to be drilled to accept a larger bolt/stud.
I have found a source for "adapter studs" - M14 on one side and M12 on the other. Apparently, these are originally used for VW Bugs (the old ones). Problem is, they're just less than 2" long (about 1 7/8"), and that isn't quite long enough. Wheels are normally about 6/8" thick, and the stud seats about 3/8" into the hub. That leaves about 6/8" free thread space. That isn't enough for safe threading (about 3/8") and any decent sized spacer.
I'm trying to find someone out there who can custom-make these types of studs but just 1/2" longer. It shouldn't be hard, but no one is doing it. Maybe someone like ARP would undertake it if we could put together enough buy-ins. I did find a company in Australia who will custom-make these things, but that would be hard to work.
Anyone interested? I can continue to research it.
