if you plan on modding your saab to any worthy extent you had better plan on forking over some dollars. I got my first 900T in high school too, and have proably drop around $4-5K in parts to make it what it is today.
I think chrisx had some good advice about getting it up to par first and go from there. cause you dont want to spend $XX!$ on some new performance parts and then find out 500miles later that you need a new clutch.
You have to remember that the saab900Turbo is a respectable car too, so dont go punching the throttle like an a$$ every time you pull out of the school parking lot (not cool). she'll move when she NEEDS TO, and boy will she!
If you are changing your mind you might want to go ahead and trade for a honda or VW cause they are a lot easier to maintain and cheaper to mod as well.
If you truely are Serious about owning a classic saab, do it the right way.
the 85 and 86 900T have a different type of APC computer that is not as easy to "tweak". I would recomend looking into manual boost control (AKA blow-off valves) cause its a more reliable way to control you boost (and you get that cool FSSSPSSST! sound when the boost blows off).
also, get rid of the stock air box/air filter and find your self a nice open KnN filter. big difference in air flow.
Good luck drew!
