At least on my 87, the stock boost guage is run off a "T" at the end of the intake manifold. When I installed the Autometer, I simply tapped into the stock line under the dash. This means that in order to have both guages inoperable, the connection at the manifold would have to come loose. Just check around the plenum on the manifold, as that should be where the hose is disconnected. The lvacuum leak caused by this hose my or not be the cause of your high idle (doesn't really make sense), but maybe you bumped your AIC and now it's stuck? Try tapping on it when the car is idling high. That's all I can think of. Can you feel the boost?
