but I think you would notice the noise that this would make if it were the source of the problem. The sound of boost pressurized-air moving the cabin would be quite audible. But in any case, you would still be getting a reading on the dash and/or aftermarket gauge.
Sounds like you need to follow the gauge's shared vacuum line back as far as you can. As Tyler says, it should be a straight shot out to one of the manifold connections. It does not make sense that both gauges would "lock up."
