hey, after having to put in a new radiator and finally pulling the AC condenser (freon-less for quite a while), I finally got to see what a difference it makes to having the IC getting full air flow. Although air passes through the AC condeser quite well, add that with the AC fan, and there is quite an obstruction.
The difference was quite impressive actually. It is usually only in cold winter temp does my 9000 loose traction in 3rd gear over 80kph...now...it did the same tonight...@ 20C.
This goes to show what cold intake air can do as apposed to just cranking the boost. I've actually decreased my base boost this summer with my old SPG9 stage 3 APC, to about 5.5 psi( stage 3 I say, because at 7 psi base boost, it's will literally boost to 26psi---not good!). The seat-o-pants accelerationg is incredible at just 20psi usstained boost. Same mods, but the simple addition of (real) good airflow.
I've also added the AC Fan to the IC, but for some reason it won't switch on...I must have buggered the connection during the tear down,,,will have to look into that...as that is an additional bonus in traffic, and an extra fan in the mountains in the heat.
One more thing, far less turbo lag, far less. f\It was the first thing I noticed at about 60kph and higher, just a few psi and the beast just wants to take off!
good times, and only at the cost of a new radiator ;-)
